Malware Safety

What is Malware?

Malware is a truncated term for “malicious software”. There are various forms of malware including viruses, trojans, worms, rootkits, keyloggers, spyware, and ransomware.  Report any suspicious software applications to the NWTC Help Desk immediately.

How can you protect yourself?

  • Ensure your software updates are current. This includes your antivirus, web browser and operating system.
  • Do NOT open suspicious links in emails or social media posts.
  • Protect all devices that are connected to the Internet such phones and gaming systems.
  • Be aware when using a flash drive you did not purchase.  It may contain malware.
